Presentation (20 minutes)
The teacher explains the definition, purpose, characteristics and correct way of intensive reading and provides examples of intensive reading

Intensive Reading

1. Understanding Intensive Reading

Intensive reading is a method of reading carefully and intently in order to comprehend the substance of a text. Intensive reading, according to Wikipedia, is a careful examination, examination, and handling by readers of a reading of around two to four pages.
While extensive reading ability is defined as the ability to fully comprehend, accurately, and critically the contents of a reading on a fact, concept, opinion, idea, experience, sensation, or message. When reading aloud, it's common for numerous readers to only read one or a few of the passages. Its goal is to improve and develop critical reading skills. 

2. Purpose of Intensive Reading 

Intensive reading is used to gather knowledge from discussion material, but it can also be used to determine a topic matter or fascinating subject from the reading text, which can then be utilized as discussion material. Intensive reading can also be used to select one or many relevant topics for discussion with friends. Additionally, we can identify the material for discussion by drawing a conclusion from the primary concepts and then determining the problem's essence. 

3. Characteristics of Intensive Reading 

Intensive reading has the following characteristics:
  • Reading for the purpose of gaining a comprehensive comprehension and remembering it for a long period
  • Read slowly and clearly to ensure that you comprehend everything in the reading text, including the content and portions of the text.
  • This practice enables students to be trained to read text sentences carefully and attentively, identifying structural flaws, vocabulary, and the use of spelling and punctuation with correctness.
  • This activity can help students become more critical, creative, and innovative thinkers. 

4. How to Intensive Reading

Intensive Reading Techniques There are various factors to consider when considering information that is worthy of debate, including how it can expand knowledge and insight, provide advantages, and be even better if it becomes a community discussion. You must perform the following when concluding material or themes worthy of debate from a text:
  • By carefully reading, you will be able to distinguish the most intriguing items from the rest. 
  • Think about your own readiness, as well as the readiness of your discussion participants, in terms of mastering or understanding the topic at hand.
  • The things to be discussed are related to the reference considerations that have become the property of the conversation participants
